Facilitation and Education
The integrated design process breaks down the silos of expertise and brings them together in an environment that allows freethinking and design input from all parties. The interactive and integrated environment brings forth design approaches that improve the performance of the building, while identifying synergies and avoided costs that reduce the project first-costs. Evna facilitates and brings experts in areas of energy modelling, HVAC design, renewable energy, controls and commissioning.

Savings by Design Program
The Savings by Design Integrated Design workshops are offered to developers in eastern Ontario. The workshops include a visioning session and full day Charrette designed to assist the developer and designers in achieving a minimum performance of 25% better than the OBC 2012. Prior to the Charrette, we prepare an energy model to set the baseline case for which to compare a series of energy efficiency measures.
Workshop Delivery
Our staff has delivered CaGBC workshops since 2007. Robin Hutcheson was instrumental in the development of the LEED Canada for Existing Buildings and was the lead facilitator for the pilot phase of this rating system. Robin delivered all the LEED-EB:OM workshops in eastern Canada and contributed to the reference guide development. Robin Hutcheson and Clément Guénard are part of CaGBC’s faculty and continue to deliver workshops on Core Concepts & Strategies, Green Associate Preparation, LEED-EB:OM.
Education Course Development
EVNA developed the course, study and examination material for the Alberta Safety Codes Council in their adoption of the National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB 2011) and the energy code requirements of the National Building Code for small buildings (NBC 9.36).
Other Education
Guest lectures, conference presentations and working group leadership have been delivered by members of EVNA.
